Since he could remember, Shadow had been adopted by a renowned clan of illusionary ninjutsu on the mist-shrouded Island of Hidden Shadows.
The clan leader, having no children of his own, treated Shadow as his own son and imparted to him all of his life’s knowledge and techniques.
Shadow not only lived up to these expectations but even surpassed his master. However, Shadow’s rising fame drew unwanted attention, turning the entire clan into a target of envy and hostility from other factions.
Under pressure from the other clans, the leader was forced to exile Shadow from the family.
Out of deep gratitude for the clan leader’s kindness, Shadow chose to protect the foundation of the illusionary clan from the shadows, becoming its unseen guardian.
