AR Sport HADO Featured in School Physical Education Practice at Japan Educational Technology Conference

At the 51st Japan Educational Technology Conference held in Tsukuba, Japan, Yoshihisa Koda, a teacher at Midorino Gakuen Compulsory Education School, presented a practical case study on the use of AR Sport HADO in physical education classes.
About the classes
The lesson was conducted as part of a fifth-grade unit titled “HADO Event Project.”
The main objective of the unit was to help students improve physical skills and strategic thinking while exploring how sports can be designed so that everyone can participate and enjoy the activity.
During the class, students worked in teams to explore the question:
“How can we make HADO enjoyable for everyone?”
Students developed strategies and adjusted in-game parameters such as the size, speed, and number of energy balls. This allowed them to tailor the gameplay to different situations and abilities, encouraging collaboration and inclusive participation.
Another activity involved a joint session between a fifth-grade class and a fourth-grade special needs class. Fifth-grade students explained how to wear the devices and how to launch energy balls, helping their peers quickly become comfortable with the game.
Teacher Yoshihisa Koda commented:
“Fifth graders explained how to use the equipment and how to launch energy balls to the fourth graders. Students from the special needs class quickly became comfortable and actively participated. Seeing everyone enjoy the activity together felt truly inclusive.”
This initiative demonstrates the potential of technology-enabled sports to create inclusive and engaging physical education experiences.
What is HADO?
HADO is a techno sport that combines physical activity with digital technology. Players wear a head-mounted display and arm sensors to launch energy balls and deploy shields in an augmented reality arena.
Today, HADO is played in 39 countries worldwide, offering a new type of sport that encourages teamwork, strategy, and active participation for players of all abilities.
