HADO Activation Day Held at Macquarie University, with Over 50 Students Signing Up for the New HADO Club

City of Ryde Council representatives also joined the event, marking a new development for AR sport connecting universities, local government and students
HADO Australia held the “HADO Activation Day at Macquarie University” at Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia.
The event was organised by City of Ryde Council and Macquarie University, with HADO Australia responsible for event operation.
On the day, Macquarie University students, together with City of Ryde Council representatives including Mayor Trenton Brown and councillors, experienced the AR sport HADO.
Following the event, more than 50 Macquarie University students signed up to join the newly established HADO Club.
Expanding AR sport experiences for students at Macquarie University
The HADO Activation Day was held to introduce HADO within a university environment and provide students with the opportunity to experience a next-generation AR sport firsthand.
HADO is played using a head-mounted display and arm sensors. Players move their bodies on a real-world court while using virtual energy balls and shields in an augmented reality space.
Because teamwork, communication and strategy influence the outcome of each match, as well as athletic ability, HADO can be enjoyed by a wide range of participants regardless of their sports background.

On the day, Macquarie University students actively took part in HADO matches. They played while communicating with their teammates and experienced a new form of physical activity and social interaction through AR sport.
According to HADO Australia, the participating students showed strong energy and teamwork, making the event a positive opportunity that also led to sign-ups for the HADO Club.
City of Ryde Council representatives joined the event, highlighting potential for local community engagement
City of Ryde Council representatives, including Mayor Trenton Brown and councillors, also joined the event.
Mayor Trenton Brown experienced HADO on the real-world court and played a match against other councillors. He described HADO as one of the world’s first AR sports, similar to virtual dodgeball.
The participation of City of Ryde Council representatives highlighted HADO’s potential to support youth engagement, physical activity, education, innovation and community building.

Over 50 students signed up for the HADO Club, creating a foundation for ongoing student participation
More than 50 Macquarie University students signed up to join the newly established HADO Club following the event.
The HADO Club will serve as a foundation for ongoing student participation, rather than ending with a one-day experience. It will provide opportunities for students to continue playing HADO, train, form teams and take part in future university-based activities and competitions.
Comment from HADO Australia
HADO Australia commented:
“We are very happy to have delivered the HADO Activation Day at Macquarie University and to have students, university stakeholders and City of Ryde Council representatives experience HADO.
HADO is a new kind of sport experience that combines physical activity, technology, teamwork, student engagement and STEM. The fact that more than 50 Macquarie University students signed up for the HADO Club is an important step toward ongoing student participation and future university-based HADO activities.
HADO Australia will continue working with universities across Australia to create more opportunities for students to participate in HADO, train and compete.”
