HADO Showcases Next-Generation AR Sports at “Summer in Qatar 2019” Festival

To boost national tourism, the government of Qatar launched the Summer in Qatar 2019 festival—an extensive indoor and outdoor entertainment program held in collaboration with more than 35 public and private partners. As part of this major initiative, HADO was invited by Virtuocity Qatar, one of the festival’s key entertainment partners, to deliver an immersive and interactive AR sports experience for visitors.
Virtuocity Qatar, located inside Doha Festival City—one of the country’s largest shopping malls—is a premier destination offering world-class gaming and esports experiences. As one of the four parks within the region’s largest indoor–outdoor family entertainment complex, Virtuocity features a 4,500-square-meter gaming coliseum equipped with over 200 gaming stations, a central multi-purpose Arena, and seating for approximately 600 spectators.

HADO Experience Booth Attracts Families, Teens, and Gaming Enthusiasts
Positioned in the center of Doha Festival City, the HADO experience booth drew significant attention throughout the event. The attraction appealed not only to local gaming fans and frequent Virtuocity visitors eager for new tech-sports experiences, but also to teenagers and children encountering AR sports for the first time.
The event effectively showcased HADO as a next-generation, location-based entertainment (LBE) that blends active fun, fitness, and intuitive body movements.

Event Highlight: “Player vs Computer” AR Battle
A major highlight was the “Player vs Computer” battle mode, where participants could adjust the AI difficulty level from 0 to 10—from extremely easy to extremely challenging.
Visitors who defeated the digital player avatar won a GoPro camera, inspiring long lines of excited challengers throughout the evenings.
The energy and anticipation around the booth steadily grew as players returned to test their skills and experience the thrill of interactive AR competition.

Rising Interest from Qatar and the Broader Middle East
Local visitors expressed great excitement in experiencing world-class augmented reality sports for the first time in Qatar, especially as the Middle Eastern esports and indoor entertainment markets continue to expand due to the region’s climate and strong mall culture.
The notable traction at HADO’s booth sparked interest from businesses across neighboring countries seeking opportunities for future partnerships.
With the Middle East emerging as a rapidly growing market for tech-driven entertainment, we foresee strong potential for expanding HADO sites across the region and delivering immersive AR sports experiences to broader communities—including the eager new fans we met in Qatar.
