AR Sport “HADO” Transforms Physical Education: 100% of PE-Averse Students Report a “Very Fun” Experience

meleap Inc., the pioneering company behind the augmented reality (AR) sport “HADO,” successfully conducted a trial physical education (PE) class at a public elementary school in Tokyo, Japan.
The trial involved three classes of 5th-grade students, all experiencing HADO for the first time. The sessions covered basic controls followed by team matches. A post-class survey revealed outstanding engagement levels, demonstrating HADO’s potential to revolutionize school sports and inclusive education.

Outstanding Survey Results: Engaging the Unengaged
According to the survey, 98.5% of the participating students reported that the HADO class was either “fun” or “very fun,” and 97.0% expressed a strong desire to play HADO again.
Most notably, among the students who stated they “dislike” or “strongly dislike” traditional PE classes, 100% rated the HADO class as “very fun.”
Traditional sports often emphasize physical disparities, such as running speed or ball-handling skills.
HADO, however, blends physical movement with augmented reality, making strategy, communication, and teamwork the true keys to victory. This gamified approach lowers the barrier to entry, allowing students who lack confidence in their physical abilities to actively participate and thrive.
“I am not good at PE, but I was able to move my body a lot,” one student shared. “I think the idea of exercising as if you are playing a video game is amazing.”
Another student remarked, “I am not very athletic, so I was worried if I could do it. But it was so much fun, and I want to play again.”
Fostering Teamwork and Strategic Thinking
HADO requires players to continuously observe their opponents, divide offensive and defensive roles, and adjust their positioning in real-time. Even though it was their first time playing, 81.8% of the students felt they were able to “think of strategies to win as a team,” and 84.8% reported that they successfully “discussed and communicated with others.”
Students highlighted the joy of collaboration: “We fought with all our might and cheered for each other with all our might. It was incredibly fun,” and “Even though we lost all our matches, it was great being able to cooperate as a team.”
Global Expansion: Over 2,000 Schools and Counting
Currently, HADO is utilized in over 2,000 educational institutions worldwide, integrated into PE classes, extracurricular clubs, STEAM education, and after-school programs.
meleap Inc. remains committed to expanding opportunities for students to enjoy physical activity while developing essential skills such as critical thinking, trial-and-error problem-solving, and team communication.
We will continue to collaborate with schools, educational institutions, and local governments globally to bring the “magic” of TechnoSports to everyday learning environments.
