Ura Toshima opened in July 2026 at the former Ikebukuro Public Health Center site and was established by Toshima City as a community space primarily for local children and young people.

The facility brings together a range of activities, including skateboarding, parkour, dance, art, and esports.

Recognized by a Local Government as a Form of Esports

Toshima City is actively promoting both urban sports and esports as part of its sports and lifelong learning initiatives.

The city takes an approach to esports that places importance not only on digital technology, but also on physical activity and health.

In this context, HADO has been introduced at Ura Toshima as an esports experience that combines technology with physical movement.

HADO uses augmented reality technology to allow players to move around a real-world arena while using energy balls and shields to compete against opposing teams.

Players communicate with their teammates, develop strategies, move their bodies, and respond to the opposing team in real time.

This combination of digital technology, physical activity, teamwork, and strategic gameplay creates a form of esports that goes beyond traditional screen-based gaming.

The introduction of HADO at a community facility operated by Toshima City represents an example of how AR sports can contribute to new approaches to esports and sports participation in local communities.

Creating New Opportunities for Young People

Ura Toshima was created as a new place for children and young people in the local community to discover sports, culture, creativity, and technology.

HADO is offered alongside other activities such as skateboarding, parkour, dance, and art, giving local residents an opportunity to experience esports through active physical participation.

HADO is available on designated esports program days at Ura Toshima.

Please check Ura Toshima’s official website and social media channels for the latest information on program dates and schedules.

HADO is not available every day the facility is open.
Program content and schedules are subject to change.
