HADO New Zealand and Aktive Auckland team up to launch New Zealand’s first Pop-up HADO Academy on July 14, 2021. This innovative techno sports program will offer Auckland students health and fitness while cultivating strategic thinking and teamwork. The Pop-up HADO Academy initiative will reach a whole new demographic in a way that has never been done previously through Aktive funding.

Overview of Pop-up HADO Academy

HADO has pioneered the world of techno sports since its inception in 2014. By merging the boundary between the physical and digital world, HADO trains not only the body on a real-world court but also the mind of everyone who plays.

The Pop-up HADO Academy brings together HADO New Zealand and Aktive Auckland in a revolutionary partnership encouraging, enabling and inspiring Aucklanders to lead more active lives. The best learning opportunities are fun and exciting, which makes HADO a fantastic choice for Auckland schools. HADO New Zealand will run the 14-week techno sports program with funding from Aktive – Auckland Sport & Recreation’s Tū Manawa Active Aotearoa Regional Fund.

The Pop-up HADO Academy will deliver a four-day curriculum at each school on basic techno sports skills. All elementary, junior high, and high school students participating will hop into Augmented Reality (AR) via head-mounted displays and armband sensors to unleash the power of energy balls and shields. All of these children will learn everything from offensive and defensive strategies and teamwork to insights from professional techno sports athletes.

This one-of-a-kind physical educational opportunity aims to teach the transferable skills which can help better the active daily lives of each and every child.
